To start, let me say that I would have given this 4.5 stars if able. I just finished a cross country trip across the US that took me over 8K miles. There were days when the temperature started at 58 degrees and ended at 101. I wore layers until it got over 75 and then used the jacket over a moisture wicking shirt. What I found was that over 80℉ the jacket worked really well once you got over 40 mph. After 95℉, it worked less well but still better than a t-shirt and sun sleeves. When it was that hot, I went to a Cool Max sleeveless under the jacket. Having ridden to Sturgis from California through Oklahoma City on previous occasions (it was in order to meet up with my brothers), I can say that the jacket is now a permanent part of my gear. The ONLY complaint I have is that there is no inner pocket. I think they could have made one for a phone that wouldn't have greatly obstructed air flow. I have a Ciro charging mount, but some days it was too hot to have it out. And for the price of the jacket, they could have included the back armor.
Needed a breathable jacket to use with a cool vest & this jacket does a great job while also performing great by itself in the TX heat. Allows air flow while protecting your skin.
This jacket is well ventilated, almost entirely mesh. It has armored shoulders and elbows. It is very comfortable to wear. The cuffs on the wrist are tight enough that bees won’t be able to fly up under it. I seem to get stung once or twice a year from bees getting underneath the cuffs on my current jackets. There’s also thumb holes to bring the cuffs down completely under your gloves. Just note that it does not come with the backpiece armor.
I’ve been extremely impressed with the Alpinestars Troop Jacket. The fit is comfortable without being bulky, and the quality is exactly what you’d expect from Alpinestars. The ventilation works great, keeping me cool on warm rides while still providing excellent protection.
This jacket is not as advertised..
this jacket was advertised to keep you cool while riding. Well for me, that’s not the case, after 20 minutes of riding in sunny weather, I could not wait to get this jacket off. It was so hot.
