Well, its a filter. Historically I've used KN Filters. Since I can't see inside to see how the filter functions and filters what can I say. I will say it has a different feel when screwing it onto the base I think because the threads are just a bit deeper than the KN or the gasket is thicker maybe. Just a little different feel than the KN, seemed to seal and stay attached just fine for the 600 miles I have on it so far.
